Low fat food can be easily found in supermarket nowadays. Supermarkets are filled with all kinds of low fat products designed to get us slim and healthy. Low fat food is big business - you can get low fat cakes, low fat cookies, low fat desserts, low fat sauces, and many more.
Researches have
shown that most people who buy commercial low fat foods do not
tend to eat fewer calories that people who don't buy them. One reason may
be that a lot of the low fat foods tend to be sweet and are loaded with sugar to
make low fat food more palatable. Although the total fat may be reduced, the calorie count may still be
high. In other words, you don't have to buy special low fat food produced
by food manufacturers. However, regularly choosing skim milk, low fat yogurt and low fat spread
rather than full fat is a good idea.
Nevertheless, if you want to buy these commercially-produced low fat food, you may want to check out the nutrition fact label to scrutinize the sugar content. If they are high in sugar content, just pass them on. Look for some other low fat products that are low in sugar content. Otherwise, you can just simply buy fresh produce, like vegetables and fruits, and unprocessed food and do your own low fat cooking. However, we have to always keep in mind that when we eat food that is low in fat does not mean we are allowed to overindulge ourselves and go overboard to consume more calories. Surely we do not want expand our waist line. So, though you are eating a low fat diet, eat in moderation.
